An examination of color as a distinct visual phenomenon with investigations of its practical, theoretical, and illusionary aspects. Students will use a variety of media and materials.
<p>While some students enter the UW as freshmen, others arrive as transfer students after doing coursework at other colleges. The School regularly accepts transfer students who want to study art, art history, or design. We asked three who just finished their first quarter to write about their experience here.</p>

<p>The Dani Elenga Art Scholarship is one of the newest scholarships in the School, and it is specifically for Painting + Drawing students. It was established in memory of alum Dani Elenga who tragically died in her 40s after an automobile accident in 2009. Art was important and meaningful for her, and it is the hope of her family and friends that this scholarship will extend Elenga's deep love of art and painting by facilitating aspiring students in the study of art.
<p>We recently asked Alex Chen to write about the work he has done with the Center for 21st Century Liberal Learning (C21) in the College of Arts & Sciences plus any other extra-curricular projects. This is what he had to say.</p>

<p>The School of Art + Art History + Design is very pleased to announce the hiring of Juliet Sperling for the Kollar Endowed Chair in American Art.</p>
