if i could sing you back: a performance with Math Bass & Eden Batki

Math Bass ushered in the opening of a picture stick in the mirror with a performance in which they embodied and mimed the mechanics of the exhibition’s concealed kinetic sculpture through movement and vocalization, enhancing the sculpture’s suggestion of continual presence. On the occasion of the exhibition’s closing, Bass will be returning to the Henry to extend and develop the original performance with collaborator Eden Bakti.

Re/frame: Forests (Virtual)

For some, forests are sites of breathtaking natural beauty where magic happens and healing occurs, while for others they are filled with danger or malice, more the setting of cautionary tales than the home of fantastical creatures. Join us as we explore the many ways in which forests have been interpreted in works in the Henry’s collection. Re/frame is a recurring program that delves into the Henry's extensive collection, highlighting a different group of objects each month. Join us for group discussions and the opportunity to see art rarely on public view.

Re/frame: Illumination

Light allows us to perceive our surroundings, it shows us the path ahead, and it focuses our attention. It evokes emotions and sensations, bringing us comfort, highlighting tension, or provoking playfulness, to name a few. Join us to experience and discuss the many forms and effects of light in a selection of works from the Henry’s collection. Restless Pursuits in Art & Literature: A Writing Workshop with Rena Priest

On the occasion of Diana Al-Hadid: Archive of Longings, the Henry presents a series of writing workshops with three Pacific Northwest writers who will lead sessions that continue the processes of influence suggested in Al-Hadid’s work, as well as give community participants opportunity to consider "archives" that live close to home and heart. Fed by multiple literary, artistic, and other cultural sources, Diana Al-Hadid’s sculptures meditate on the conflicts and ruptures exposed when these stories are brought together.
